Samuel Beatty Wilson (
February 20,
1824 -
January 17,
1889) was one of founders (known as the 'Immortal Six') of the
fraternity of
Phi Gamma Delta. He was born on a farm near
Newcastle, Pennsylvania and later attended
Jefferson College where he was a brilliant student. At Jefferson College, he was one of the founders of Phi Gamma Delta and its first president. After graduation, Wilson studied law and was admitted to the bar. After opening an office in Beaver, Pennsylvania, he married Elizabeth Robinson and together they'd four children. He remained in Beaver, Pennsylvania the rest of his life, becoming the most respected and influential man in the community. He passed away on January 17, 1889 at the peak of his career.
